Local Artist Creates One-of-a-kind Paintings for NHBCA Annual Arts Awards

Award recipients for the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA) 40th Annual Arts Awards Gala will receive a one-of-a-kind oil painting at this year’s ceremony. With over half a century of experience in the fine art world and a lifelong passion for painting, Concord-based artist, Pamela Tarbell, is the creator behind this year’s unique awards.

“As a painter, educator, and advocate, my entire life has been dedicated to art so this project holds a very special place in my heart and is a wonderful recognition,” said Tarbell, who has served on numerous boards and committees promoting the arts in the Granite State. “NHBCA does something very special for artists, connecting them in a unique way with businesses to promote art throughout the state.”

Each award recipient will receive a unique 12 x 10-inch framed oil painting hand-painted by Tarbell during her several month-long creative process. Tarbell, owner of PR Tarbell Fine Art Gallery in Concord, incorporated the gala’s purple color scheme into each award, paying homage to the event and allowing each piece to have a unique yet cohesive style. Each painting was first sketched on thick paper and then layered with coats of oil paint to create various patterns and textures, giving each award a distinctive look.

The paintings are all strikingly unique – with inspiration taken from nature, many of the pieces feature flowers, vines and plants arranged in an abstract manner. Tarbell describes her works as representing the relationship between nature and the art that it inspires. All the awards incorporate a wide array of colors, patterns and textures, and showcase vibrant green, purple and blue tones.

“Since 2019, Pam has been a valued artist entrepreneur member within the NHBCA community,” said Tricia Soule, NHBCA executive director. “We are thrilled to have her as the creator of our 40th Annual Arts Awards. Her abstract paintings, with their rich color palette, ignite the imagination. We’re confident that our award recipients will proudly display these awards, allowing other to appreciate their beauty too.”

Tarbell’s work is displayed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and she has won numerous awards for her work.

The awards will be presented on May 6 at NHCBA’s 40th Annual Arts Awards Gala, the only statewide event recognizing business partnerships and engagement in the arts, which honors businesses, individual artists and cultural organizations for positively impacting communities across the Granite State.
