Lunch Event for Leadership Arts and Leadership New Hampshire

For Immediate Release
November 15, 1999
Lunch Event for Leadership Arts and Leadership New Hampshire

In celebration of the combined one day session of the classes of Leadership Arts and Leadership New Hampshire, the public is invited to a lunch and keynote address featuring Telluride Film Festival founder and co-director Bill Pence on December 9 at 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth Hotel and Conference Center.

Bill Pence will highlight the impact of effective partnerships, one of the themes of the Leadership session.  He will present the Telluride Film Festival as a case study involving the elements of community, economic impact and artistic integrity and the key role this played in evolving this international educational event to the legendary status it enjoys today.  The Telluride Film Festival is known as the leader in balancing the fine art of cinema with the sheer fun of the movies.

Pence has recently become a Portsmouth resident.  He partnered with The Music Hall last fall for the Telluride-by-the-Sea program.  The Telluride Film Festival, founded in 1974, has premiered hundreds of films, honored directors, screenwriters and actors, and hosted education forums on the making of films.

Leadership Arts, a program of the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts, is a leadership development and training program primarily for business people who serve on boards of arts organizations.  Leadership New Hampshire, a joint project of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the Business & Industry Association of New Hampshire, fosters and expands the pool of talented and informed citizens committed to community and statewide service and encourages public service.  The organizers developed this December 9 collaboration to create a wider network for those involved in both programs and to provide a deeper and more meaningful experience of the arts and the role leadership plays in a healthy arts community.

Tickets for the lunch and keynote speaker are $20 and must be reserved by December 3 through the NH Business Committee for the Arts at 224-8300.  Day Sponsors for this program are PC Connection, Inc., PSNH and the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth.
