ANNUAL BUSINESS IN THE ARTS AWARDS GALA MAY 9The 22nd annual Business in the Arts Awards will be held May 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Center of New Hampshire - Radisson Hotel in Manchester. Sponsored by the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts, the gala will honor the twenty-eight New Hampshire businesses nominated for this year's awards. The culmination of the evening will be the naming of the winners. The evening highlights a celebration of business support for the arts with a performance showcase.
Laura Knoy, host of New Hampshire Public Radio's "The Exchange", is the Master of Ceremonies for the festivities. The line up of award-winning New Hampshire performers include chamber music by graduates of the Concord Community Music School; a reading by New Hampshire Poet Laureate Patricia Fargnoli; selections from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" by the Palace Theatre Professional Productions; and folk music by Susie Burke & David Surette with Kent Allyn.
More arts features include a cultural trivia quiz show with lucky contestants winning baskets filled with goodies from New Hampshire's cultural institutions and a special grand prize; NH Made product displays as table centerpieces; and clay artist Maureen Mills creations as the award prizes. Twenty-eight businesses were nominated for their support of the arts including sponsorships, employee volunteerism, and donations of products and services. The winners in each of four categories will be announced during the evening. Additionally, one individual will receive an award for leadership based on his or her demonstrated efforts in promoting business leadership commitments to the arts.
