Lawyers for the Arts / New Hampshire

In 2002, Lawyers for the Arts/New Hampshire, a program of the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts, established a relationship with Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord to direct New Hampshire artists and arts organizations with arts-related legal issues to the clinic at FPLC. The Clinic is student staffed and faculty supervised and in general assists people in civil matters who are unable to pay. In addition, FPLC is a specialist in Intellectual Property matters and has a successful record of assisting people with issues in a variety of creative fields.

This relationship between the NHBCA and FPLC was initiated to provide a timely response to artists and organizations seeking referrals. The LA/NH program does not have an attorney on staff.

The NHBCA has agreed to assist the FPLC Clinic by directing referral inquiries. If you are a New Hampshire artist or organization, have an arts-related legal issue, and would like to request pro bono legal service through this program, you may contact the NHBCA for a referral form at arts@nhbca.com. Your request must be for a specific issue, rather than a request for general counsel.

If your referral is refused by the FPLC Clinic because it does not fall within its guidelines, at that time you may contact the NHBCA again to see if we are able to identify another resource for your request.

If you are NOT a New Hampshire artist or arts organization, please contact your state's bar association or a local volunteer lawyers for the arts office. The various volunteer lawyers program are independent and there is no national central office.
