Business in the Arts Awards Criteria

DEFINITION

The New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts presents the annual awards to businesses and an individual who have distinguished themselves during the calendar year 2003 through outstanding acts in support of the arts in New Hampshire.

Business Award
This recognition will be given to those businesses which have had the most significant impact on the arts either through a single act of sufficient magnitude or through a variety of activities involving the arts over a period of time in 2003.
Awards will be given in four categories, by company size according to the number of New Hampshire employees:
  • Microenterprise - 6 or fewer employees
  • Small Company - 7-49 employees
  • Medium Company - 50-499 employees
  • Large Company - 500 or more employees
Leadership Award
Given to one individual business executive to recognize exceptional leadership, vision and commitment in encouraging and developing the partnership between business and the arts.

No attempt will be made to assess the artistic merits of the arts programs supported by the businesses or individuals nominated. NHBCA awards are intended to honor business support of the arts and cultural programs, not to evaluate the programs themselves. Business-supported arts projects may be in any area of the arts.

ELIGIBILITY

The NHBCA Business in the Arts Awards competition is open to business executives and New Hampshire business firms of all sizes.

Business Award Individuals, businesses or representatives from arts organizations may make a nomination. Businesses may nominate themselves for an award. Businesses who have won a Business in the Arts Award in the past are eligible for an award and are encouraged to participate.

Business foundations which are normally supported by corporate funds and are organized for the purpose of providing philanthropic support are eligible for an award.

Leadership Award
To be eligible for a Leadership Award, an individual must be a chairman, vice chairman, president, chief executive officer, owner or principal partner of a business. Individuals who are retired or employed by tax-exempt, charitable organizations are not eligible.

This award recognizes the individual's efforts over the long term to ensure an enduring impact of the arts. Arts projects may be in any area of the arts.
